Mixed Sprout Curry With Goda Masala

Hi all ,

I have been wanting to write something with made with kala /Goda masala and finally the recipe is here . One of my dear friend brought me Goda masala from Pune . I thought of making Maharashtrian curry or missal. Goda masala or Maharastrian kala masala has a lovely aroma and blend of all amazing spices.

So today i thought of making mix sprout curry with it and to my surprise it turned out amazing.  Well i am going to share this recipe here with you all. check it out and do let me know what you think and how you all use Goda or Kala masala .

1 cup ...... Boiled Mixed Sprouts
1 Tsp ..... Red chili Garlic Paste
1 Tsp ...... Green chili and Ginger Paste
1 Tbsp ....... Sesame seeds
1 Tsp ............ Maharashtrian kala or Goda masala
1 Tsp ............. Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp ........... Cumin seeds
1/2 Tsp ................. Asafoetida (Hing)
1 Tbsp .... sugar
1 Tsp ....... Lemon juice
1 Big Onion chopped
Few curry leaves
2 whole red chilies
1 Tbsp ............  Oil
Salt to taste

Method :
  • Heat oil in a Pan  , Add Cumin seeds . Asafoetida , Dried red chilies and Curry leaves 
  • Mix all the dry masalas( Goda masala/ Turmeric powder/ sesame seeds)  in a half cup water , make sure no lumps are formed. Now add them to the pan with Chili Garlic paste
  • Mix the spices well till oil comes out
  • Now Add the Boiled sprouts ,Add salt , sugar , chili & ginger paste and lemon juice 
  • Add 1 cup water
  • Mix well and cook with lid covered for 5 mins. 
  • Sprinkle chopped onions , Coriander leaves and Haldiram's Dried mixture ( see attached pic )
  • Ready to eat !! (make sure you add onions, and dried mixture just before serving) 
  • And it can be eaten with paratha or rice without adding the mixture. 
  • Enjoy !
