Tomato Lentil Soup


Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Lentils ( toor dal)
4 medium tomatoes cut
6-8 whole black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic paste
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1/2 tsp oil
salt to taste
1/2 tsp butter ( low fat)
1/2 tsp lemon juice
coriander leaves chopped

Method:
  • Pressure cook washed dal and tomatoes with little salt
  • Once cooked, cool it down for a while and blend it in a mixer or a blender
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add whole black pepper and garlic paste
  • Now add the soup mixture, cook it on a low flame till its thick
  • Add pepper powder, salt and lemon juice
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and butter

Serving Suggestions:
Can be served with garlic bread
You can put small pieces of cracker biscuit in the soup to make it more filling. Good for children

Tip:
When you blend the cooked dal and tomatoes, don't take the pulp out. That will give richness and thickness to the soup.
