Bottle Gourd kofta( doodhi/lauki ke kofte)

1 cup bottle gourd grated
2 cups gram flour (besan)
1/2 tsp. ginger grated
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp jeera powder
1 tsp garam massala powder
1/2 tsp cooking soda
water as required
salt to taste
For Gravy
3 large juicy ripe tomatoes pulp
1 large onion
1 tsp. coriander leaves finely chopped
1/2 tsp. cinnamon-clove powder
1 tsp. garam masala powder
1 tsp. red chili powder
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1 tsp. sugar
salt to taste
2 tbsp. oil or ghee

Preparation of Kofta :
  • Mix all the above ingredients for kofta and set aside
  • Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the koftas
  • Drain and keep aside
Preparation for the gravy:
  • Heat oil in a pan and add onions , stir it till light brown
  • When its little brown , add turmeric powder and coriander leaves finely chopped
  • When it separates the oil , add tomato pulp
  • Add cinnamon-clove powder,garam masala powder, red chili powder , sugar and salt to taste
  • Now add the koftas and add water if required
  • Cook it for 20 mins

Serving Suggestions:
serve hot with parathas or jeera rice
